PETALING JAYA: Transport Minister Datuk Seri Chan Kong Choy yesterday clarified the days on which heavy vehicles are banned from all roads during the festive season. Heavy vehicles are banned from public roads on Oct 20, 21, 28 and 29. The Government decided to ban the vehicles from the roads on Oct 29, instead of the earlier announced date of Oct 27, because more people are expected to return from their holidays on that Sunday. By banning the heavy vehicles on Oct 29, we hope it will ease the congestion caused by returning motorists, he said. He also said the ministry received appeals from groups such as the Pan Malaysia Lorry Association to allow heavy vehicles to travel on Oct 27. Timber lorries, lorries transporting construction materials, cement mixers, cranes and low loaders will not be allowed on the roads during the four days.

Iowa's economic "plateau ... is actually pretty good right now," Lipsman said. "There are a lot of parts of the country that are seeing major slowdowns." Marisa DiNatale, an economist for Moody's Economy.com, said Iowa "is far outperforming the rest of the Midwest," but generally lags behind some parts of the national economy. "That's the way it's always been," she said.

Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) has condemned the inhuman attitude of the authorities of Delhi government as well as the MCD for sealing the small shops, houses, banquet halls and farm houses. It also condemned the anti-people activities of the authorities being carried out in the name of implementing the Supreme Court order. It should be remembered that in 1998, LUB had vigorously opposed the demolition of factories and now it will not hesitate to take similar action if this juggernaut of demolition or sealing continues, LUB said in a statement issued on September 22. It demanded promulgation of the Master Plan 2021 to regularise all constructions whether dwelling houses, shops, factories, banquet halls or farm houses because they provide essential services to the public. It all started with a PIL in the Supreme Court by one M.C.
